App Blocking (Kiosk Mode)
Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms such as ManageXR and ArborXR can be used to lock headsets down and put them in Kiosk Mode. This means students will be unable to exit the MDM’s home screen and access any other applications other than the list that has been preauthorised by the school’s IT admin.
This eliminates the concern that students will use the VR headsets to access the internet and try to install games to play. Removing access to the headset’s app store and consumer applications, such as internet browsers and YouTube, gives teachers the confidence to teach without worrying about what the headsets may be used for.
Remote Management
Teachers and IT administrators can push new educational apps, 360° videos and configuration updates directly to headsets over WiFi from a central management program. This eliminates the time-consuming process of installing software and updates on each headset individually.
Also, if a headset is misplaced, IT can remotely wipe the device or lock it down so it cannot be used outside of the school’s approved environment.
