School roll-out of new evidence-based VR wellbeing tool to support students with anxiety, avoidance and overwhelm.
RedboxVR have recently worked alongside Phase Space to supply Virtual Reality hardware into schools in London.
In April 2026, the London Borough of Sutton became the first in the country to deploy evidence-based VR mental wellbeing support across all of their secondary schools; a borough-wide programme, led by South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust through CAMHS’ Education Wellbeing Service.
Phase Space provide evidence-based immersive experiences that help students manage feelings of anxiety and overwhelm in just 7 minutes. Phase Space VR supports whole-school wellbeing by putting a fast, evidence-based tool directly in the hands of school staff. It’s available on demand, every day, to help reduce absence, improve behaviour and focus, and teach students how to manage stress.
We supplied Phase Space with a number of our Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise Kits, pre-loaded with their application and configured for true plug-and-play implementation straight out of the box. Within six weeks, 100% of schools were confidently using the technology. Early data shows that the primary use case has been pre-exam anxiety, and schools report a positive impact on attendance and time spent in class.

Virtual Reality Implementation
Phase Space have worked hard on implementation and usability as part of their software and service design. Virtual Reality is a proven technology in the field of mental health, but far too often headsets are left gathering dust on shelves because it isn’t quick, easy or intuitive enough to use. From their initial co-design stage with medical students at St George’s University through to implementation pilots at the NHS, Phase Space have taken a structured approach to ensure that their solution is entirely “plug and play”.
We were honoured to work alongside them to ensure that their Virtual Reality headsets were already set up, updated, and their software was pre-installed on every headset. Our Virtual Reality Kits ensured that their headsets were stored, protected and charged thanks to our handy intelligent charging cases. We assisted with the device management side of things to ensure that the headsets were as easy to use as their software. We also provided our custom branding service to emblazon the front of their headsets with the Phase Space logo.
Phase Space: Calm Minds, Brighter Futures
Phase Space’s RedboxVR Kits arrived pre-loaded with their content. They offer a series of curated bundles of 7-minute experiences. They currently offer packs for immediate stress relief, one for managing exam stress, and one for inclusion/SEND that’s focused on self-regulation.
A randomised controlled trial by City St George’s proved that Phase Space’s VR headsets outperformed smartphone-based content. We know that the immersive nature of VR supercharges physical relaxation, removes distraction and makes it effortless to step away from stressful situations. Phase Space’s school customers report more time spent in class, improved attendance and behaviour, and users are finding the VR headsets easy to start using.
